Best Textbooks
Here is a list of the best textbooks I read during my bachelor’s studies, in the order in which I studied them. What makes a textbook great is its organization, writing style, completeness, and the inclusion of complete and realistic examples to demonstrate the topics being discusses. A great textbook is also one which I refer back to frequently, so its not just a textbook for a single course, its a reference.
- Fundamentals of Physics (6th edition) by David Halliday, Robert Resnick, Jearl Walker.
- C++ How to Program (4th edition) by Harvey M. Deitel and Paul J. Deitel.
- Electric Circuits (6th edition) by James W. Nilsson and Susan Riedel.
- Digital Design (3rd edition) by M. Morris Mano.
- Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach (2nd edition) by Stuart Russell and Peter Norvig.
- Operating System Concepts (7th edition) by Avi Silberschatz, Peter Baer and Galvin Greg Gagne
- Database Management Systems (3rd edition) by Raghu Ramakrishnan and Johannes Gehrke
- Compilers: Principles, Techniques, and Tools by Alfred V. Aho, Ravi Seth and Jeffrey D. Ullman.
- Computer Organization and Design (3rd edition) by David Patterson and John Hennessy
As you can see, the list is entirely composed of books written in English. I hope that we can soon have similarly well-written computer science books in Arabic.
